Top 10 geek comics on the web
Part of my morning ritual when I get to the office is to cruise through the newest web comics and have a good laugh, getting myself in the right mindset for the coming work day. As a bit of a geek and Internet aficionado the comics I read tend to also head in that direction. Since everyone should have a good laugh every now and then (especially when you recognize yourself in one of the comics) I thought I’d share. So without further ado here are my ten favourite comics on the web:
The joy of tech
http://www.joyoftech.com/joyoftech/index.html
The Joy of Tech is a comic about technology and pop culture. It usually pokes fun at current events and usually puts the hype back in line. Thoroughly enjoyable and educational. Occasionally I even found out about a current event or topic I missed in my newsreader through this comic.
What the duck

As a part-time photographer I love reading “What the Duck”. Many of the situations are one’s I’ve found myself in already and reflect the sometimes quaint view clients have of photographers. Plus this comic revolves around a sarcastic little duck, how can you not like it?
Cyanide and Happiness

Pure fucking evil! If your easily offended then this is definitely not the place for you. If however your sense of humour is extremely warped and twisted like mine you’ll love these little strips.
Little Gamers
http://www.little-gamers.com/
Little gamers deal with the reality of being a geek gamer, having to work and dealing with girlfriends and life in general. If you play games you will find many familiar scenes here.
Userfriendly

This is the first online comic that I’ve known and it’s made me laugh ever since 1997. The chronicles of a couple of geeks at work in an Internet company and everyone’s favourite dust-bunny! :D
Geek & Poke

Simply fantastic! IT truth condensed into single panel droplets of wisdom. I regularly mail these around the office, to the characters that are reflected here.
Dorktower
http://www.dorktower.com/
John Kovalic, inventor of the amazing munchkin games is the genius behind this lovely comic. In his own words: DORK TOWER is for anybody who’s ever been burned being an early adapter; who’s made more Twitter tweets than actual Twitter followers; who’s ever gone to a Star Trek convention; who’s ever played Dungeons and Dragons; who suspects Anime is more than just a passing ad; and who’s been fragged by a Gravity Hammer in Halo III – or anyone who KNOWS one of these people

This comic reflects so much of my life that it’s sometimes pretty scary! I just love it, geeky, funny, weird. Tim Buckley the brains behind this comic has just too many fantastic ideas, the church of gaming being one of the best ever! Also includes the best wedding vows ever, even if my girlfriend promised she’d kill me if I ever use them…
xkcd
http://xkcd.com/
A web-comic of romance, sarcasm, math, and language. The simplest drawn but the best and deepest ideas. Really geeky at times, so if you’re just a casual reader without a background in programming and quantum physics you might miss out on a joke or two. ;)
Dilbert

One of the oldest web comics I know out there, a true classic. Timeless office humour that graces many a cubicle across the planet.
So, now you know what I read in the mornings. What do you read? Did I miss any geeky comics I should be aware of? Let me know!
